Designed by James Braid, Buchanan Castle Golf Club lies on the plain of the River Endrick, less than one mile from Loch Lomond and it is a delight, in spite of the fact that in Scottish golfing terms it is almost a newcomer, dating from 1936.

The course, close to Loch Lomond and the picturesque village of Drymen, is set against quite stunning scenic backdrops. Designed in 1936 by James Braid, it offers players of all levels an intriguing but fair golfing challenge. The clubhouse with its paintings of past Dukes and racehorses add to the very distinctive Buchanan atmosphere.
Buchanan Castle lies in a forested residential estate with every tree native to Western Europe – five different types of Oak and several soaring Pacific coast Redwoods. Below the ridge lies a flat plain, with the meandering Endrick Water flowing through.
To the North, beyond the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, there is the beginning of the Highlands with the Luss Hills, the Arrochar ‘Alps’ and Ben Lomond itself.
Buchanan Castle is a particular pleasure for the touring golfer – close to the famous attractions of the Trossachs and is perfectly served by the lovely village of Drymen, just over a mile away.
